Wedding Photography | Norfolk {Matthew & Gulnoor}

This weekend I shot the wedding of Matthew and Gulnoor. It was a beautiful sunny day, and Matt & Gulnoor chose to marry later on in the evening, so the light for photography was amazing. Gulnoor got ready for her big day at Barnham Broom Hotel. It was a hubub of excitement when I arrived. Hair and makeup well under way. With all 4 bridesmaids, mum and the bride, all in the same room, it was all very cozy.

As Gulnoor’s mum buttoned up the dress and put the veil into place, the emotions ran high and the nerves started to kick in. A few tears were shed, but soon enough, the fizz was flowing and the mood changed to excitement. We headed outside to the waiting cars. One quick photoshoot, and I was off to the church.

The ceremony took place at St Nicholas Church, Dereham. I see many beautiful churches in this job, this one was no exception.  After the heartwarming ceremony, it was just a short drive to their reception Venue, Matthew’s parents house, Hurley Lodge. I was here only a few days ago shooting the engagement photos. Lots of hard work had obviously gone into making the marquee and garden look as fantastic as it did.

The flowers and details were simply perfect, with a hint of cornflower blue throughout. Wild flowers in jars everywhere and plenty of references to Matt and Gulnoors life in London. After the speeches and food, it was time to party into the night, everyone did just that.

Engagement

Hurley Lodge

Engagement Photography|Norfolk {Matthew & Gulnoor}  It had been a very hot day in Norfolk, but as early evening approached, it was starting to cool down nicely and the light was stunning. I met with London based students, Matt & Gulnoor, for their photo shoot, at Matt’s parents house in Dereham. Hurley Lodge is hidden down a country lane, nestled between rolling crops. A perfect location for their engagement shoot.

We took a nice walk around the extensive grounds, through the apple trees and the wild flowers. Then we wandered down the lane, to play in the corn fields. It was all great fun, until Matt was chased by a horsefly…his constant running away was comical.

We escaped the biting bugs and headed back to the Lodge for some sunset shots. As we waited for the perfect light, I spotted the sports car. Matt and his dad’s pride and joy. The boys built it themselves, it seemed only right we should use it for the shoot. Bright red and very fast, off matt and his fiancee Gulnoor sped, down the lane and out of sight. Upon their return, Matt turned to me and said, “your turn” and he took me for a spin too…wow, it was so much fun.

We arrived back at just the right moment, in perfect time, to capture the sun, as it set over an amazing shoot. I look forward to returning to Dereham and Hurley Lodge for the wedding.

An engagement shoot may seem like a luxury, but in my mind, it’s an essential. I am aware that some people don’t like having their photo taken, me included.  After a bit of time together, in front of the camera, people soon relax and actually start to have fun with it! When it comes to the wedding day itself, the photography side of things becomes the last thing you need to be nervous about.

Sara and Christopher’s Wedding

Back in September I had the pleasure of shooting with Nicki Thurgar . We really did have fun in the sun as we covered Sara and Chris’s special day. And look out for the most amazing Choccy woccy doo dah cake! Here is a little peep of my images. Keep an eye on Nicki Thurgar’s site for all of her amazing photographs from the day.

Laura & Danny

Its time to get caught up on my blog posts. Wedding season is coming to a close. My editing had been taking up so much of my time, but now I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, so here are a few posts from this summer.

When i look out of the window at the grey clouds and drizzling rain, that blistering hot weekend at the beginning of September seems a distant memory. I had two back to back weddings this weekend. The 8th saw me shooting with the brilliant Mr Jamie Groom again. This was the wedding of Danny and Laura at  St Mary’s church near Kenninghall, Norfolk. Laura had eight, yes eight bridesmaids and Danny had just as many good men behind him. It was a great day of shooting with plenty of emotion. Then we dashed over to Lenwade House Hotel for the reception. Laura’s attention to detail was amazing, such a beautiful cake too. A quick Bride and Groom shoot by the river saw an amazing sunset.

This is a little sneaky peek from me. Take at look at Jamie Groom‘s blog for the entire shoot!
