Wedding Photography | Norfolk {Matthew & Gulnoor}

This weekend I shot the wedding of Matthew and Gulnoor. It was a beautiful sunny day, and Matt & Gulnoor chose to marry later on in the evening, so the light for photography was amazing. Gulnoor got ready for her big day at Barnham Broom Hotel. It was a hubub of excitement when I arrived. Hair and makeup well under way. With all 4 bridesmaids, mum and the bride, all in the same room, it was all very cozy.

As Gulnoor’s mum buttoned up the dress and put the veil into place, the emotions ran high and the nerves started to kick in. A few tears were shed, but soon enough, the fizz was flowing and the mood changed to excitement. We headed outside to the waiting cars. One quick photoshoot, and I was off to the church.

The ceremony took place at St Nicholas Church, Dereham. I see many beautiful churches in this job, this one was no exception.  After the heartwarming ceremony, it was just a short drive to their reception Venue, Matthew’s parents house, Hurley Lodge. I was here only a few days ago shooting the engagement photos. Lots of hard work had obviously gone into making the marquee and garden look as fantastic as it did.

The flowers and details were simply perfect, with a hint of cornflower blue throughout. Wild flowers in jars everywhere and plenty of references to Matt and Gulnoors life in London. After the speeches and food, it was time to party into the night, everyone did just that.

Hurley Lodge

Engagement Photography|Norfolk {Matthew & Gulnoor}  It had been a very hot day in Norfolk, but as early evening approached, it was starting to cool down nicely and the light was stunning. I met with London based students, Matt & Gulnoor, for their photo shoot, at Matt’s parents house in Dereham. Hurley Lodge is hidden down a country lane, nestled between rolling crops. A perfect location for their engagement shoot.

We took a nice walk around the extensive grounds, through the apple trees and the wild flowers. Then we wandered down the lane, to play in the corn fields. It was all great fun, until Matt was chased by a horsefly…his constant running away was comical.

We escaped the biting bugs and headed back to the Lodge for some sunset shots. As we waited for the perfect light, I spotted the sports car. Matt and his dad’s pride and joy. The boys built it themselves, it seemed only right we should use it for the shoot. Bright red and very fast, off matt and his fiancee Gulnoor sped, down the lane and out of sight. Upon their return, Matt turned to me and said, “your turn” and he took me for a spin too…wow, it was so much fun.

We arrived back at just the right moment, in perfect time, to capture the sun, as it set over an amazing shoot. I look forward to returning to Dereham and Hurley Lodge for the wedding.

An engagement shoot may seem like a luxury, but in my mind, it’s an essential. I am aware that some people don’t like having their photo taken, me included.  After a bit of time together, in front of the camera, people soon relax and actually start to have fun with it! When it comes to the wedding day itself, the photography side of things becomes the last thing you need to be nervous about.

wedding photography {Jo & Paul}

As a wedding photographer, I get to see some pretty amazing weddings. This stunning wedding was no exception. portofino italy wedding photography

I first met with Jo and Paul at their home in Norfolk. Cup of tea in hand and their mischievous cat on my lap, I began to hear about Jo and Paul’s grand wedding plans. The destination for this perfect wedding was to be, no less than, the Italian Riviera. Portofino to be precise.

High above the port of Portofino, looking out over the multi million pound yachts and cars, sits A villa called Castello Brown. Cleverly crafted into the  hillside above the port, this place boasts the most spectacular views of the mediterranean sea and beyond.

The night before the wedding, I got to meet all the family and friends over, what else, pizza! The excitement filled the air as we and chatted into the night. It was an early night for me. I wanted to fresh for the big day ahead.

On the morning of the wedding,I woke up early . My hotel was right on the beach, so, before my breakfast, I went for a quick swim with the locals. A great way to start the day.

The temperature was already rising and it wasn’t even 10am. I took a short drive to the venue, and met with the family at the port. After a quick drink in the hot sun, we started the steep climb to Castello Brown. Many stairs later, and there it was…THE most beautiful wedding location to date.

The bridal party were very calm as they got ready for the day. Jo had thought of everything. Each and every detail was classic and beautiful. When I first saw her dress, I think a tear came to my eye. Low cut back with an italian lace infill. I couldn’t wait to see her with it on.

In the courtyard, preparations had been made for the ceremony. Paul was waiting, nervous and excited for his bride to meet him at the alter. Lead by her bridesmaids and flower girl, arm in arm with her proud dad, Jo arrived. A vision of perfection indeed.

The ceremony over and the celebrations begin. Plenty of food and wine was consumed, and everyone partied well into the night. A perfect celebration of a wonderful couple. Congratulations Jo & Paul and thank you for choosing me to photograph your wedding.

Thanks also to infinity wedding planners . Barbara, you made me feel most welcome, I hope to shoot alongside you again soon. portofino italy wedding photography

Jo & Paul- Castello Brown Portofino Wedding

This weekend I was photographing a wedding at Castello Brown in Portofino, Northern Italy.

I have been to some truly amazing places in the world.  I have seen some mind blowing sights, but Nestled in the mountains over looking the luxury port of  Portofino, sits Castello Brown. This ancient castle was the setting the magical marriage between Jo and Paul.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Barbara Calo and her team from Infinity Weddings and Events . Barbara is a wedding and events planner based in Tuscany. I look forward to working with her again in the near future. Castello brown Portofino wedding.

Photography, to me, is sometimes not just about the stunning locations, but equally about the people I meet, and this weekend in Portofino was no exception.

This is one of my favorite photos from the day, many more to come.

I Do…Lizzie & Will Engagement Shoot Helmingham Hall-Suffolk

What a stunning venue for a wedding. The spectacular, moated, Helmingham Hall sits proudly amongst its tranquil gardens and Red Deer park. Lizzie and Will took me for a long walk in the gardens, it was hard to take in the beauty of this place. I look forward to shooting their wedding here in August.

Les & Cathy’s wedding- Southwood Hall

This weekend, the sun made a welcome appearance. I spent this sunny Sunday with the lovely Cathy and Les celebrating their wedding at the stunning Southwood Hall in Norfolk. A stark contrast to thier wintery engagement shoot a few weeks ago, the weather allowed us to make the most of the beautiful grounds surrounding this perfect venue.

Heres a little sneaky look at their amazing day.

Alexandra & Tristan’s Wedding Ingoldisthorpe Hall Mt Amelia

I first met Alexandra and Tristan, unusually,  just a few days before their wedding day. I met them at their venue, Ingoldisthorpe Hall, Mt Amelia out near Sandringham, Norfolk. This place really blew me away! I have seen some amazing venues in my time, but this place is simply perfect.

Upon meeting Alex and Tristan I was immediately put at ease by their calm and kind nature. No sooner had I sat down and Tristan was making me a ‘proper coffee’, whilst we chatted wedding plans. I then went on a guided tour of this 9 bedroom country manor. The views were superb. On the horizon I could just see Hunstanton beach. The house sits in acres of land, partly wooded. The biggest most majestic oak tree was to be the spot for the forthcoming wedding ceremony.

As I drove away from this place, the sun was setting, I was filled with excitement for the coming weekend shoot and the sun set was out of this world. call me soppy, but i had to hold back the tears as I sat and watched the sun drop below the horizon.

On the day of the wedding, I was made to feel just as welcome by all of Alexandra and Tristan’s friends and family. The sun shone and the day ran like a dream. The  intimate ceremony under the oak tree was a very emotional affair. Just their closest friends and family surrounded Alex and Tristan as they said their vows. The wedding  rings were passed among the guests, they silently bestowed their own wishes and sentiments upon the rings as they each held them in their hands.

The wedding party then made their way up to the house where they enjoyed Pimms on the lawn followed by an amazing picnic on an array of multi coloured blankets. Oh and not forgetting the home made ice cream. So many flavours, my favourite was Gin and lime marmalade- yum!

It was hard to leave this shoot, but I was only needed for the day time. I am sure they had the most amazing evening. I hope you like the blog.

Emma And Jack

This weekend I was privileged to shoot alongside the lovely Jamie Groom.  We spent a wonderful day at Albion Days in Gt Melton Norfolk.  We enjoyed a truly relaxed blessing with Emma and Jack and their family and friends. The wigwam tents in the apple orchard of The old Rectory were a perfect setting for everyone to chill out as night fell and the fire pits blazed. A truly amazing venue, a truly blessed couple.
